A Perfect Retreat for Retirees, Families, and International Guests:

Built in 1932, our home was once utilized as housing for family members of soldiers stationed at Camp Gordon Johnston, a WWII amphibious military training facility. It has been in our family for 5 generations.

Our home’s amenities include: morning coffee and beautiful sunsets from our large deck overlooking the gulf, the sound of seagulls and of waves lapping the shore, dolphin watching, shore fishing, flounder gigging, and crabbing, swimming and snorkeling in protected waters, long walks at low tide, star-gazing at night, the occasional manatee sighting, and a well-stocked bookshelf. This beach home is the place for you if you desire a getaway from your usual fast-paced lifestyle, in an old-timey Florida setting. There are two bedrooms and baths upstairs and an additional bedroom and bath downstairs. The downstairs also boasts a full kitchen and rec room with billiards/ping pong table. There is a television upstairs and down, and we offer WiFi for those who feel a need to remain 'connected'.

Tate’s Hell Nature Trail, the historic Carrabelle Lighthouse and Museum, Camp Gordon Johnston World War II Museum, Dog Island ferry excursions, charter fishing, glass-bottom boat rides at Wakulla Springs, Panacea's Gulf Specimen Marine Lab (with touch pools for children), and a variety of local seafood eateries. Located about an hour’s drive from Tallahassee, and only twenty minutes from St. George Island and Apalachicola, this retreat can be tailored to your own adventurous spirit. Directions: Traveling west on US Hwy 98 through Carrabelle, cross the Carrabelle River and travel approximately 2 miles and take a left at Two Al's Restaurant. Take the 2nd left on Carrabelle Beach Road and travel almost to the end. Palms and Pines is the next to last house on the right.

Check-In Instructions
Check-In: Check-In is at 4pm and Check-out is at 10am, unless prior made. A late check- out or early check-in fee may apply. When you arrive at the home there will be a lockbox at the entry door on the north side of the house by the carport. Rotate the dials to 2597. Press down on the release button to open the door to remove the key. Damages: Our rental policies require that your security deposit is held by credit card and we reserve the right to charge the credit card on file for any damages or missing items as necessary. The same goes for discarded items left by tenants. Unwanted items must be disposed of properly or taken away upon departure. We will contact you regarding these damages and payment. Should an accident happen, please call us immediately to let us know about it. Just so You Know: Television service is provided by MediaCom Cable – channel guides are located near each TV. This home is furnished with bed and bath linens as well as beach towels. Please use the beach towels provided and do not take the bath towels to the beach. In the event you should need them, an extra set of bed linens can be found in a drawer in each bedroom. If additional linens are needed, please contact us. You will find a charcoal grill, beach chairs, an umbrella, and a rolling ice chest in the downstairs hall closet. Please enjoy these extra items provided for your convenience but be sure to clean them and return them before you check out. Wireless internet is also provided – the password is 6ec376fb. Important Reminders: This home is NON-SMOKING! PLEASE GO OUTSIDE TO SMOKE!!! You may in the yard but do not leave cigarette butts behind. While we try to make things convenient for our guests, please remember we are not a hotel. You are staying in someone's home and we expect you to take care of it as if it were your own. We provide basic cleaning supplies, a couple of garbage bags, a roll of paper towels, and a roll of toilet paper in each bath. You will need to provide any other cleaning supplies or paper products you may need for your stay. Soap, shampoo, personal items, coffee, food, etc. are not provided. Please: • Keep the sand outside! Rinse your feet downstairs when returning from the beach and hang your sandy towels outside to dry. • No wet bathing suits on furniture! There is a clothesline outside for wet suits and towels. • Be courteous to your neighbors and keep the level of noise down after 9pm. • Lock the home behind you whenever you while staying, and at check-out. • Do NOT pour grease down drains. This will cause clogging and create serious plumbing issues. • Dispose of all fish waste at the fish cleaning station and waste disposal located at the city boat ramp on Marine Street. Do not place fish waste in the outside trashcan as this will attract bears. • Place all trash in the can provided. Trash pick-up is on Thursday. If you are staying for the week, it is imperative that the trash be taken out to the road early that (Thursday) morning. Letting the trash accumulate due to missing the pick-up causes a health and safety hazard, as well as an inconvenience, for the next guests. Trash should NEVER be left outside the trash can! Excess trash left outside the bear-proof trashcan upon departure will result in a $50.00 charge to the credit card on file. If you are a weekend guest, please take your trash out to the street, place in the trashcan, and close/lock the lid before you leave. Again, excess trash will result in an additional charge. Upon arrival, if there is trash left outside the can, please notify us immediately! • Do not turn the AC below 75 degrees. This can cause the unit to freeze up or create large amounts of condensation which damage the home and the AC unit itself. If we find the thermostat set below 75 and damage occurs, you will be responsible for any and all repairs. Please remember that you are not staying in a hotel – the air conditioning unit is not built to “suddenly” cool the whole home; it must be done gradually as in your own home. Likewise with the heat during winter months! • Turn off lights and fans when away from the home and when you leave - Helping to keep the utility bills down for our owners allows us to keep our rates lower. Do not run the air-conditioning or heat with the doors and/or windows open. • Check to make sure all outside faucets have been turned off (inside and out) before vacating. Check-Out: When you leave, please secure your trash in the can provided and leave it at the street. Check to make sure all windows are completely closed. Lock all the doors and return your key to the lock box using the instructions above – scramble the numbers and make sure the key is secure.
